Most Wanted

John Craycroft, a.k.a. Creacroft, was the first known Craycroft to arrive in America. His parents remain a mystery despite dozens of people spending decades looking for them. Any help would be appreciated.

John H. Craycroft was born in Maryland about 1820 and in 1848 went from New Orleans to San Francisco and then on to the gold fields in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. He was a major player in Downieville, California, owning a saloon, saw mill, grocery store and theater as well as an interest in a gold mine. But I know almost nothing about John before 1848. His birth date is an assumption at this point. Any help in identifying definitely his parents would be greatly appreciated.
